Just the right filter for taking excellent photos and videos of recent partial (in my location) solar eclipse.

This K&F filter threaded on perfectly and reduced the sun's brightness to camera safe levels.
The filter comes in a convenient carrying case which is useful since it will be rarely used and will need storage.
I haven't the experience to take decent photos yet, or to determine how many f-stops of reduction this filter offers, but if I can figure it out I will update.
It's well priced for a quality filter, and when you need it you need it!

The K&F Concept 82mm ND100000 Optical Glass Filter Neutral Density 16.5 Stop ND comes in a typical plastic storage/protection case along with 3 microfibre cleaning cloths in sealed envelopes to keep then clean until needed. I see no reason why the microfibre cloths can't be re-used; they just ensure they are kept clean until you need them.
The ND100000 is dark enough to photograph the sun providing 16.5 stops of light reduction. Most ND filters will induce a colour shift in the photos. I took two photos of a white card: one at 1/160 s and one with the ND filter at 6 min 50 sec. Colour shift with the K&F Concept 82mm ND100000 was minimal. Using the eyedropper to correct white balance, there was a net difference of 150 Kelvin, which is negligible. I've posted comparison images with no processing and aonther with the same white balance applied and a +0.50 exposure increase on the ND photo to balance exposure. You can see a very subtle shift in colour, but, as I said, ALL ND filters will have some colour shift, even the US$100 - $200 ones.

Worked just great for the eclipse. With 1/1000s shutter speed. 58mm fits Canon lenses

I bought this for the eclipse, and when testing it, found it worked so well. Nice investment.

The filter works well and does not cause lens reflection on photos. The filter screwed on with ease and has a metal bezel that is easy to grab onto as well. It is very easy to read the filter information printed on the side. The filter came in a protective case as well as included microfibre cleaning cloth. I am sad. I did not have this in time for the eclipse, but I will be ready next time. until then, I will continue to practice on some of these cloud photos and other very bright situations.

I got both the ND100000 (16.6 stop) and ND1000000 (20 stop) for the Apr 8 2024 eclipse. They both worked well. I used the 20 stop during full sun at ISO100 f8 exposed between 1/4 to 1 second. The 16.6 stop max'd out at 1/1000 sec during full sun, but worked great shooting thru thin clouds with about a 1 second exposure. These are a good inexpensive choice for solar photography. Sun spot will show but you need an hydrogen alpha (Ha) filter for solar flares. CAUTION As the amount of UV blocking is not known, don't use the optical viewfinder, instead use the electronic live-view screen to protect your eyes!
