I have a similar product from another brand that requires a special phone case to attach the filters. This one with just a simple magnetic plate excited me. My thought was I could use it with any case. At least with the iPhone 17 Pro Max that is not possible. It has a poor fit with any case that covers the lip that goes around the camera and sensor. I think Apple calls this the “plateau.” While it will magnetically attach it can’t lie flush with the covered “plateau.” The plateau must be bare. I’ve attached a couple photo as visual demonstrations.Personally, I’m not willing to use my phone bare unless it’s in a cage with an external top handle I can firmly hold. So, this plate is a fail to me. However, if you are willing to go bare, or maybe you do anyway, this plate is excellent and easy to use since it just snaps to the MagSafe ring. The plate is a bit weighty compared to the iPhone itself, but I think that helps for balance. Attached to the phone it has a reassuring grip so you know the filter won’t slide around and ruin the photo. Similarly, if you are using a variable filter, dialing it in is smooth and feels like you are using it on a “real” camera.Another plus, it comes with a nice padded zippered case that makes storage and transporting it uncomplicated.The kit I ordered also came with a 58mm CPL filter which had decent image quality but poor functionality. I pointed my lens to water, sky, windows, but I could not see any differences as I spun the filter around. Oddly the CPL wheel had no markings either to let you know either the starting point or strength. Another reason I found this filter unusable. It’s also frustrating and weird that the filter did not come in a storage case.So if the magnetic adapter appeals to you my recommendation would be to order it solo and find a better CPL filter. This adapter can use any brand as long as it’s 58mm.
