Exceed my expectation
I have a few scopes, most by a very commonly seen manufacturer popular in educational settings and even some labs, and they are of great quality. I got this in a good deal, and I was expecting a "kids scope", despite the price, but I was very pleasantly surprised. First, it came in a nice case with form-fitting foam to hold everything safely for travel. Opening the case I found all the goodies, and my first positive surprise was that it uses an 18650 Lithium battery (of which I have dozens as well as chargers for them.) These batteries, aside from just being rechargeable, are packed with power and last a long time. Much better than running plain old AA batteries, or needing to plug it in everywhere...
The display is really, really crisp and clear - no fuzz, no pixels visible. I believe it's full HD 1080x1920. The menu graphics are equally sharp and clear. The buttons on the base are both pushbutton and turn - use these to set brightness levels by turning, and clicking to set parameters in the menu, etc. Very intuitive operation.
The optics are absolutely clear. Using it with the provided prepared slides revealed some beautiful and fascinating cell structures, etc. Three magnification levels selectable by just turning the optics head.
External ports for running an external USB monitor with the provided cable and slot for a microSD card for snapping photos (again, a quick push of the button on the base accomplishes this. Note that photo resolution settings can be adjusted in the menu in you don't want the biggest, high-res files for any reason.
I could go on and on about this scope. It really surprised me. This will be a LOT of fun to share with my grandkids and show them some fascinating stuff at the micro level - and maybe even inspire them to want to learn more. Who knows where it could lead. But don't let my use intent fool you - this is a FANTASTIC scope, and unless you're doing genetic editing one base-pair at a time, this scope will serve your purposes. It's a GREAT Scope! Very, very happy to add this to my stable of scopes, and it will probably become the one I use most. Highly Recommended!
