82mm Gold Diffusion 1/4 Filter Mist Soft Glow Warm Highlights Vintage Cinematic Aesthetic Camera Lens Filter Nano-Xcel Series
SKU: KF01.3223V2
Very well made and packaged — comes with a nice protective case. Usual K&F quality: solid glass and a really nice matte ring/frame.
I regularly use the Black Diffusion 1/4, but I also prefer a warmer look, and this Gold diffusion does a good job adding that warmth to my shots.
However, based on my early tests, the bloom you get with a Gold diffusion at 1/4 will seem heavier than what I get on a Black diffusion 1/4. Probably because of the lighter colour particles in the glass.
Overall I do like the look. Bloom & contrast might be a little stronger for most people, but I don’t mind it.

This filter adds a really nice, subtle warmth to photos without going overboard. It’s not one of those effects that completely changes the look of an image — it just softens things slightly and gives highlights a warmer, more pleasing tone. I especially notice it in lighter areas and backgrounds, where the warmth comes through in a very natural way.
I already own a few filters from this brand and, as expected, the build quality is excellent. The glass feels solid, the coating looks clean and even, and the threads are smooth. Just make sure you order the correct size for your lens, and when installing it, screw it on gently and you’re good to go.
I tested it in the exact same lighting conditions with and without the filter, and the difference is easy to see once you know what to look for. The image with the filter has a slightly warmer feel, especially noticeable in lighter details and background areas. It gives photos a bit of a vintage or cinematic touch without sacrificing sharpness. The top picture is without the gold filter while the bottom picture is with it, both have the exact same lighting. Note how the cow's horns as well as the backgroud are a bit warmer in the bottom picture - that's what this filter does. It's subtle, but warmer. And I anticipate this effect to be more noticeable outside in the sun.
Overall, I’m very happy with this filter. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, feels well made, and is a great addition if you like a warmer, softer look straight out of camera.

Up until this point, I had a black pro mist filter I was using with my Nikon 135mm 1.8 LAB lens, which is an 82mm diameter lens. This gold diffusion filter from brand K&F CONCEPT is unreal, and gives me an entirely different effectual filtering than the black pro mist does.
Part of K&F's line of "Nano X" filters, it is very well constructed, not just visually, but under the surface as well, providing 28 layers of nano coating on AGC glass. The effect is a crystal clear ambience that I can hardly describe, but the glow really resonates with me, and I am excited to explore my creativity with it attached to my lens.
The filter comes with a nice measured carrying case, and a cleaning cloth. 5 stars.

Classic Diffusion Filters in the Digital Age – A Deliberate Choice
Of course, the question arises: in the age of powerful digital filters and extensive post-processing tools, why would anyone still use a classic lens filter? The K&F CONCEPT Gold Diffusion 1/4 is clearly aimed at users who want to define their look while shooting – and not later on the computer.
Character Instead of Neutrality
The Gold Diffusion 1/4 is not a neutral, "always-on" filter. It requires conscious, creative application and a good understanding of when the effect is appropriate. When used correctly, it creates a pleasing, slightly soft look that softens contrasts, gently diffuses highlights, and gives the image a subtle, cinematic feel without visibly sacrificing sharpness.
The filter truly shines when shooting portraits, available-light scenes, or film-style subjects.
Advantages Directly in the Camera
A significant advantage is that the desired look is created directly in the camera. This considerably reduces the need for complex post-processing and ensures consistent results across an entire sequence. This is a real benefit, especially for video recordings, as the diffusion effect appears smooth and natural.
Build Quality and Coating
The optical glass, combined with the multi-nano coating (Nano-Xcel), makes a high-quality impression. Reflections and contrast loss are well controlled, and color shifts remain subtle and intentionally in keeping with the filter's "gold" character. Mechanically, the 77mm filter fits cleanly and without play onto the lens.
Conclusion:
4.5 out of 5 stars: The K&F CONCEPT Gold Diffusion 1/4 is a tool for targeted image creation, not for continuous use. Those who know when and how to use diffusion creatively will achieve very convincing results straight from the camera – with less post-processing effort and a clearly defined look.

As a Director of Photography, I always favor an organic, cinematic aesthetic over the sometimes overly "video-like" and clinical look of modern digital sensors. I constantly strive for a soft image that retains its character and sharpness without resorting to artificial blur. A regular user of the K&F Concept White Mist filter, I was able to test this Gold Diffusion version both in the studio and outdoors. The conclusion is undeniable: it performs with the same finesse as the white model, but adds that characteristic amber tint that instantly warms the atmosphere.
The filter's potential truly shines when shooting against the light. It's at this precise moment, depending on the amount of light hitting the gold microparticles integrated into the AGC optical glass, that the magic happens. Highlights soften to create warm halos, and a subtle golden veil lifts the blacks in the image, resulting in a warm and nostalgic feel. However, it's a double-edged sword. If the exposure isn't perfectly controlled, especially in natural light where control is limited, the filter can quickly kill all the contrast and ruin an image. It therefore requires a certain level of expertise to avoid transforming a scene into an overly milky look that couldn't be salvaged in post-production, even in RAW.
Personally, I use this filter very often in the studio on modern lenses that are a bit too sharp or overly detailed. It allows me to slightly soften that overly digital look (but not completely, so post-production in DaVinci Resolve is essential) and add a vintage haze without creating a "steamy bathroom" effect.
Otherwise, the build quality is really good, and cleaning fingerprints is easy thanks to its special technology.
In short, I think it's an excellent filter that adds an artistic touch, but it must be used sparingly and with a good understanding of how to manage light.

I was intrigued by this filter, especially since I like to shoot with legacy lenses. The weather isn’t cooperating to try the filter outdoors, so I did what I could inside. Because cameras and lenses render images differently, I tried the filter with three different cameras and six different lenses:
Panasonic GF1 with Zeiss 28mm f/2.8
Panasonic GF1 with Zeiss 80-200mm f/4
Canon R5 with RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1
Canon R6 with EF 70-200mm f/2.8
Canon R6 with EF 50mm f/1.8
Canon R6 with Zeiss 50mm f/1.4
Canon R6 with Zeiss 28mm f/2.8
Having such a slow aperture, I didn’t expect much from the 100-500mm, and it lived up to my expectations. It was also difficult to see the effect with the Zeiss 80-200mm. It was there, if you knew to look for it, but it didn’t stand out. The Zeiss 28mm is a very sharp lens, and the filter did a nice job of taking the edge off, giving the flowers a softer, more romantic look. Likewise, the 70-200mm at f/2.8 also showed the effect nicely. Where the filter seemed to really shine, though, was with the two 50mm lenses. Shooting the lenses wide open, I could see the effect readily when flipping back and forth between the photos. Another thing I noticed, is that changing the camera’s angle in relation to the lighting makes the filter’s effect on lowering contrast more visible.
It’s clear to me that there’s more to this filter than just putting it on the lens and shooting. It’s going to take time to learn how to make the most of all it has to offer. Just in the short time I’ve spent with it so far, though, I really like it. I love the vintage look, especially when used with my old Zeiss lenses. It even gives me a new appreciation for the Canon EF 50mm, a cheap lens I almost never use. That may change, although with a 49mm filter size, I had to use a ridiculous number of step-up rings to put the 77mm filter on it. One thing to note, this filter has an aluminum frame. I wish it were brass, but it is what it is. I got it stuck once and managed to free it. Be careful not to tighten it more than necessary when putting it on your lens.
In the end, is the filter worth it? It depends on what you’re after, but for my uses, I think it is. I love to shoot old buildings, historic places, old trains, and similar scenes, then convert them to black and white. At 12 megapixels, my old Panasonic with the Zeiss lenses is fantastic for this. I haven’t been able to duplicate the way it renders with newer, higher resolution cameras. This filter may help, though, by softening the hard edge, technical look just enough to achieve the vintage look I’m after. I’m anxious to get out and try it.

The K&F Concept Nano-Xcel Gold-Mist 1/4" (82mm) filter is the ideal choice for photographers and videographers who want to achieve softer images and a warm atmosphere directly during shooting. The filter uses optical glass with a nano-multilayer coating to ensure exceptional image quality.
Pros
• The Gold-Mist effect softens highlights and adds a pleasant warm tone to photos and videos.
• It is useful for portraits and cinematic shots, reducing harsh highlights.
• The optical glass offers good performance without significantly compromising sharpness.
• The 28 layers of nano-coating help reduce reflections and flare.
• The construction appears solid and well-finished.
A few points to keep in mind, in my opinion, are fundamental:
The diffusion effect is not suitable for all photographic genres, such as highly detailed landscapes.
The "warm" cast may not be appreciated by those who prefer neutral colors.
In conclusion, it is an interesting filter for those looking for a softer, warmer look directly in the camera, particularly suitable for portraits and videos, but less versatile for general use.

I have some mixed feelings about this gold diffusion filter, even though there are a lot of things I genuinely like about it. The first thing that stands out is the build quality, which is excellent. The glass itself is very high quality, with excellent light transmission, and the gold speckling does not interfere with image sharpness or clarity in any noticeable way. It simply adds a warmer tone to the image, which is exactly what it is designed to do. From a materials and construction standpoint, this feels like a premium filter made with very good optical glass and solid multi layer coatings.
In use, the filter does exactly what it claims. It produces a soft golden glow in the highlights and gives images a warmer, more nostalgic look, almost like a late afternoon or golden hour feel baked directly into the shot. I do like that this is a one quarter diffusion, since it is not overly aggressive. It changes the character of the image without completely overpowering it, and the diffusion effect remains subtle while still being noticeable. Contrast is slightly reduced, highlights are softened, and skin tones do benefit from a more forgiving look without losing overall sharpness.
The 77mm thread fits my lenses perfectly, and there were no issues mounting it. I also use step up rings on a couple of other lenses, which works fine, but of course that means I cannot use a lens hood in those cases, so that is something to keep in mind depending on how you normally shoot.
Where my hesitation comes in is the price. Paying close to one hundred dollars for a diffusion filter feels excessive to me, even acknowledging the excellent glass quality and coatings. If you are someone like me who shoots RAW and is very comfortable editing, I am not convinced this filter provides a look that cannot be achieved in post processing. With modern editing software, LUTs, and a few well placed adjustments, I can get extremely close to this same warm, cinematic look without committing it permanently in camera. I did not see anything in the images that truly stood apart from what I could recreate later with sliders and color grading.
That said, if you are someone who prefers to get the look in camera and does not enjoy heavy post processing, this filter absolutely delivers what it promises. The glass is excellent, there is no noticeable degradation in image quality, and I did not experience unwanted reflections, flaring, or color artifacts. The diffusion effect is tasteful and subtle, and the golden tone is pleasing rather than overpowering.
In the end, this is an excellent quality filter that performs exactly as advertised. It creates a soft, golden diffusion effect with very high optical quality. The biggest downside for me is simply the price. If cost is less of a concern and you want this look baked into your images, it is a very good option. If you are comfortable editing and chasing value, the cost may be hard to justify despite the undeniable quality.
