Subtle, fun, but not perfect.
I'm not 100% sure how I feel about this filter. It's very subtle in its effect most of the time which makes it easy to toss on and forget but be pleasantly surprised by every so often. It also occasionally shows the filter pattern on the bokeh in the background which can take a decent background and make it suddenly distracting. Examples are in the photos attached to this review.
In the Christmas tree photo with the red LED in focus, you can clearly see the triangle pattern from the filter in the white bokeh balls on top of the tree on the right hand side of the photo and a little bit in the yellow bokeh ball midway up the tree on the left hand side of the photo. While I think the star effect on the red LED looks really nice and the rest of the tree is sufficiently sharp, those triangles in the bokeh balls are incredibly distracting in my opinion.
The same effect is also seen in the tree photo with the yellow LED in focus and the triangle pattern in the green bokeh balls.
The snowman snowglobe photo shows some of the star effect on the glitter near the cardinal on the broomstick and I didn't see anywhere in the photo where the triangle pattern appeared. Given the relatively smaller size of the bokeh, I think there's just not any single color spot big enough in that photo to show the triangle pattern.

The filter itself is very nice and a good quality. It screwed on my camera lens easily and was even easy to attach my lens cap to. It's lightweight and offers some protection for the front elements. I think it's nice to have especially around Christmas time but I wouldn't want to use it all the time. It's fun for pictures with lots of points of light that might be in focus but it can definitely show up in bokeh balls in unexpected and rather unpleasant ways. So a fun filter but not for everyone.
