Used on my Porsche Boxster to look for bore scoring on the engine.
I've been using this handheld endoscope monitor specifically for inspecting my 2000 Porsche 986 Boxster's engine, and it's been quite a mixed experience. On the positive side, the large IPS screen is a real standout feature. When I'm checking for bore scoring, having a 4.3" IPS LCD screen with crisp, clear visuals is incredibly convenient, and I don't need any external software or apps, which is a huge plus. The rechargeable and replaceable battery is also a game-changer in this context, as it eliminates the need to replace the entire borescope and provides up to 6 hours of usage time, ensuring I can thoroughly inspect the engine.

However, there are a couple of drawbacks to consider, especially when using it in the car. The modular structure, while touted as a benefit, can be somewhat finicky during inspections. Replacing the snake tube and screen can sometimes feel less secure than I'd like, which can be distracting while examining the engine. Additionally, while the high-temperature protection feature is ideal for automotive inspections, it can be a bit limiting in the confined spaces of the engine compartment. Getting the right angles for a comprehensive view can be challenging and time-consuming.

In my car, this endoscope helps me pinpoint any potential issues in the engine, such as bore scoring. The large screen and long battery life are essential for this task, but I do need to be cautious about the modular design's limitations, especially when navigating the tight spaces under the hood. Despite these challenges, it has proven to be a valuable tool in saving me both time and money during my home mechanic weekend warrior car inspections.
