The filter is very nicely machined, and has a great matt finish. The ring rotates with a bit of a drag, as it should, and stays firmly in a position that you choose. There is large knurling on the moving ring, for a great grip.

Rotating the ring rotates the 4-line stars.

The filter did not impede my DSLR's auto focusing, although it does cause a bit of loss of sharpness and contrast, it's not dramatic.

The main question is how often you are going to use this filter. It's a novelty filter for a novelty effect. But it can add a touch of magic to a shot with strong highlights.

The K&F CONCEPT 82mm Variable Short Line Star Lens Filter (6 Point) is an excellent addition to your filter kit.

I picked this up just before the holidays and being able to adjust the number of star points by simply twisting the filter is very easy and creates a great look for points of light.

The filter doesn't seem to darken images at all making thing still sharp and bright.

It's an easy install of just threading onto your 82mm filter thread on your lens and you are good to go.,

Love this filter in my kit!

It is a nice little filter that gives a very good impression, it transforms the lights into a “star” effect giving a nice artistic effect, very nice for the end of year celebrations.

It does not degrade the image quality, which is an excellent thing, especially on very sensitive wide-angle lenses, for that price, it's very good, I will surely buy a copy for 16-35 (in 82mm)

This filter is one of those tools that instantly sparks ideas the moment you screw it onto your lens. It turns everyday light sources into something cinematic and playful, which makes shooting feel more creative right away. Streetlights, fairy lights, candles, reflections, jewelry, holiday decor, anything with a point of light suddenly becomes more interesting, and you start looking for excuses to use it. It’s especially fun if you enjoy doing effects in-camera rather than relying on editing later.

For the price, the value for money is excellent. Specialty filters can get expensive quickly, and this one delivers a clean, controllable effect without feeling like a novelty item. It’s affordable enough to experiment with, but polished enough that the results don’t feel cheap or gimmicky.

The overall quality is solid. The filter frame threads on smoothly. It holds up well in a camera bag and feels like it’s meant to be used regularly, not babied. It doesn’t noticeably kill sharpness or contrast.

In terms of ease of use, it’s very straightforward. You screw it on like any normal filter and rotate it to adjust the star effect. The rotation is smooth and lets you fine-tune both the intensity and direction of the flare quickly, even while actively shooting. There’s no learning curve, which makes it approachable whether you’re new to filters or already comfortable with them.

Functionality-wise, the adjustable star lines make a big difference. Being able to dial the effect up or down means you can keep things subtle or go full sparkle depending on the scene. That flexibility makes it useful for both photos and video, and it works well for creative projects without locking you into one specific look.

As for filter quality, it performs exactly how you want a star filter to perform. Light sources stay clean and defined, and the starbursts look intentional rather than messy. It’s not something you’d leave on your lens all the time, but when the situation calls for it, the effect is consistent and repeatable.

In actual use, this shines most in low-light scenes, night photography, festive setups, and product or lifestyle shots where highlights matter. It’s less useful for flat daylight scenes with no point lights, but that’s expected for this type of filter. When used thoughtfully, it adds personality without overpowering the image.

Great balance of creativity, usability, and price. It’s easy to use, well-made, fun to shoot with, and delivers results that feel intentional rather than accidental. If you enjoy experimenting with light and adding visual flair straight out of the camera, this is an easy recommendation.

I chose this filter to experience a creative effect directly during shooting, without having to resort to digital solutions in post-production. The idea was to obtain controllable star lines, especially with intense points of light or direct reflections.

The aluminum alloy frame is solid, with a smooth rotation that allows you to adjust the orientation of the six-pointed lines without jerking. The thread is precise and screws properly onto the lens, without side play. AGC glass is clear and does not introduce obvious dominants into illuminated scenes.

The star lines are sharp and relatively short, a trait that I find pleasant because it does not dominate the image. On closer inspection, the yield varies greatly depending on the intensity of the light source and the distance of the light point. The multilayer technology helps to reduce unwanted reflections and flare, although I imagine that in some situations with very strong lights, some secondary reflection may still appear.

In concrete terms, the possibility of rotating the filter 360° allows immediate and quick customization: a gesture is enough to change the orientation of the tips. The resulting creative control is sensitive, and I must admit that this gives me a pleasant feeling of freedom of composition.

The weight is low and the filter is easy to carry even in already full bags. The glass is well treated; it has no visible pores or imperfections. I don't know how long it will withstand small scratches, also because an artistic filter is often handled more than usual.

In practice, it is an accessory that adds character without going to excess. The final rendering depends a lot on the scene, but the overall behavior is controllable and intuitive, which is always useful when working with creative effects.

The four-pointed star effect is consistent and predictable, transforming point light sources into stars with well-defined arms. The intensity of the effect varies depending on the diaphragm opening used, being more pronounced with f/8 or higher values.

The filter is properly screwed on 82-millimeter lenses without excessive looseness, and the rotation of the ring allows the orientation of the starry tips to be adjusted according to compositional needs. Optical glass does not introduce obvious chromatic aberrations or reduce sharpness appreciably in my tests with professional objectives.

I have tested the filter in urban night photography, landscapes with backlit sun and portraits with artificial lights, the result is satisfactory in all cases. The three included microfiber cloths are useful for maintenance. For photographers looking for occasional creative effect without high investment, this is a recommended option, the quality/price ratio is very favorable compared to premium alternatives.

I ordered it in 82mm to be able to use it with several lenses using step-up adapters, and I think that decision was very wise because I took advantage of it with different lenses.

The filter creates a six-pointed star effect on all point light sources, so the luminous garlands, streetlights and illuminated windows look very effective in the photos. The best thing is that you can rotate the filter to change the orientation of the stars and adjust the effect according to how you compose the image, the rotation mechanism is super smooth but at the same time it maintains the position you choose without moving alone. The thread is easily screwed onto the lens without jams or anything unusual. Japanese optical glass with 18-layer multilayer treatment minimizes internal reflections and maintains good light transmission, I have noticed that it does not introduce appreciable color dominants or significantly degrade the sharpness of the base image.

It comes with three microfiber cleaning cloths that are great for keeping the glass clean, and all stored in a rigid plastic box.

With the “Starburst 6-point filter” I expected the typical, very high quality of “K&F CONCEPT” accessories... and was not disappointed.
For me, it is the 82 mm version.
The frame is made of high-quality aluminum and is made of 2 parts. In total, even 3 pieces.
It consists of a base frame with a total diameter of 85 mm. This has a high-quality, uniform and very handy knurling on the outside. The thread is located in front of knurling. Here with 82 mm diameter and 2.5 mm depth for screwing into lenses, or other accessories such as adapter rings.
The front part is the holder for the filter glass. Also equipped with an 85 mm outer diameter and an 82 mm thread on the front to accommodate further filters. The filter glass is not glued, but is screwed to the third aluminum part, a narrow ring. This leaves a thread depth of 2 mm to accommodate further accessories. The front ring is smooth on the outside, but has two opposite handle knurls that even extend beyond the outer diameter.
This makes it possible to rotate the front part of the filter intuitively and very sensitively.
In this way, the direction of each of the 6 rays can be adjusted as desired.
The filter parts run very softly and evenly with exactly the right resistance to each other. This allows an exact adjustment without the filter adjusting itself.
All threads are first-class and fit very well. The filter can be accurately screwed into both my lenses and stepdown rings. Other 82 filters fit easily on the front.
The matt black coating has so far proven to be very scratch-resistant and looks professionally elegant.
The aluminum frame is only 7.5 mm thick and weighs 22 g. Minus the 2.5 mm screw-in thread, the filter is assembled 5 mm and is therefore also suitable for wide-angle lenses.
The optical glass also looks and works of very high quality.
At this point, we rely on 18 times the compensation. In any case, the surface is low-reflection. It is not sensitive to fingerprints or light dirt and is very easy to clean.
Drops of water do not stick to the glass and bead off.

The filter creates a 6-pointed star from bright point light sources in the image! This depends on many factors but usually looks very consistent.
Thanks to the fully rotatable filter frame, the direction of the six-pointed star can be adjusted.
A very effective, high-quality filter is used sparingly and purposefully.
As an express effect filter, it naturally also changes the imaging performance of lenses, but unwanted effects are not noticeable.
A highly recommended filter for special applications. With the 82 mm version and step-down rings, it is suitable for many lenses.

Using and shooting with the filter is really fun and 5 stars are well deserved.
