I had to return this because the waterproofing failed when I went to the beach but prior to that it was working great. Shame all of my videos got ruined but I may go for the newer model when it comes out if they improve the waterproofing when it comes out if they improve the waterproofing

The sound quality of the waterproof speaker is great; it's very light and connects smoothly. However, one downside is the video quality, especially at night—it’s horrible no matter what settings you use. They just haven't perfected that aspect yet. Hopefully, future versions will improve in this area. For now, if you need something for nighttime use, this isn’t the right option. I recommend looking for something else.

My mind is blown at the features this tiny camera packs. It literally captures a full 360, and you can get footage that you didn't think you were aiming at. Amazing. Quality on this is also great. Finally something that compares to the latest and greatest GoPros, but with better features.

We tested it in both snowy and warm conditions, and it performed well. If you're looking for a 360 camera, this is the way to go. Insta360 are in a league of their own. Gopro isn't specialized in 360 and I have my doubts about the max.

Noticeable upgrade in quality. The X3's main issue was its clarity and image quality. It wasn't even close to the quality from my phone. My biggest hope for the X4 was the 8k resolution and it delivered.
The included lens cover and case is a nice addition. The lenses are fragile and the cover is a great improvement because I've had my fair share of drops! However, it does affect the image quality.
The new processor makes it much more responsive.

Disadvantages:
The body size and weight has increased, which I guess is a trade off for the higher image quality.
8k does eat up battery life fairly fast so hoping for an improvement on that in the next model.
8k also runs hotter, probably because of the power it needs to record so high. As long as the heat doesn't cause the device to shut down, I think it's acceptable, especially since it doesn't need to be held like a phone. If it's mounted it cools down with the wind.

I've been using this camera for over a week now, but I haven't put it through a thorough testing phase yet to provide a solid review. However, at first glance, it appears impressive. An invisible selfie stick is definitely a must-have accessory for this device. While my main focus isn't sports or adventure, it might just inspire me to venture into those areas too.

What caught my interest is the capability to capture stunning 8K images, which I plan to utilize for 3D modeling environmental backgrounds to enhance the realism of my scenes. That said, there is some processing involved that I'll need to figure out for effective usage. This gadget seems thoughtfully designed and offers more support compared to others in the market. Insta360 really stands out as the go-to brand for capturing memorable moments.

It also includes free downloadable software for video editing, which can be accessed through its app as well. I can control the camera remotely using my iPhone X, and so far, I haven’t encountered any software issues—though I've seen reviews highlighting some problems others faced. One thing to note is that the camera does heat up quite a bit, which appears to be a common issue. The documentation does caution against using it in excessively hot conditions, but it hasn't posed a problem for me yet.

Honestly, this camera is really cool, but the software has a steep learning curve.. I wish it were easier to start recording with gloves on. I use my Apple Watch to add motion data, so I’m not sure the best path to start, whether that’s the button on the camera or taking my gloves off (skiing) and using my watch. Battery life is about 3 hours. The files are huge. Getting the output you want can takes hours. The lens guards could use a better locking mechanism to make sure they don’t fall off. But let me tell you why I’m still giving it 5 stars: the customer service is stunningly good. I wrote a whiny review here, and then got pounced on by a wonderful person called Eddie. He talked me through what wasn’t working for me. He offered to replace things that didn’t seem to work right, and then he followed up! (Multiple times). It made it clear to me that this is my first Insta product, but the company is highly invested in making that a long-term relationship. I’m really excited to see what new stuff comes along, and am enjoying the X4 a lot more than when I started.
