Looking for a good and especially cheap filter. I chose this Mist 1/4 filter from the brand, K&F Concept. The filter can be used very well in the evening as well as during the day.

The 1/4 Black Mist Diffusion Filter from "K&F Concept" (never heard of) arrives at home well protected in a filter box. I ordered this filter for my Canon FD 50/1.4 ssc (filter diameter 55mm) and what I noticed right away was that the filter hesitates when I try to screw it on....this can then be a bit of a game of patience, but you have it sometimes once the start of the thread is caught, it can be screwed on without any further problems. The image quality is not negatively affected by the filter, it just becomes a bit softer (dreamier), mainly when light is involved. I could still show pictures of my daughter (from my hobby studio) with light from behind, but you're not allowed to anymore. I think you can see what the filter does from the two pictures I posted. If it weren't for the fumbling to screw it on, he would have gotten all 5 from me, so it's still a very good 4.

Good Pro Mist filter, useful for "smoothing" the highlights of your photos, softening them and giving them a "cinematic" look. You can see the effect very well in the example photos where the one with the halo around the highlights is clearly the one with the filter. The filter is also useful for softening skin tones, hiding imperfections and generally making skin feel more comfortable.

The quality of this filter is more than good compared to the price it is sold at. The transparency is excellent and the filter does not degrade the image, except for an obviously less sharp rendering, which should not be considered a defect but only a consequence of the filter. Build quality is good and the filter screws and unscrews the lens on and off well without any hesitations.

It certainly rivals slightly more expensive products and is a good choice for those who want to experiment with filters without spending capital. Recommended!
Good for the price

like the effect this filter has on videos. This tends to soften the shadows without losing detail and makes the scenes appear a bit more cohesive. The 1/4 filter offers a good balance, enough to get the blurring effect without being too obvious. However, the lighting you use with this filter has a big impact on the result. The build quality of the K&F filters is fantastic for the price. The threads are well cut and don't snag at all, even on the larger size. Overall I am very happy with this filter.

This filter creates such a beautiful, subtle difference that any filmmaker will appreciate. It's not big and over the top. If you show it to your non-camera friends, they probably won't even notice the difference, but you will definitely notice a difference in your footage. It makes the highlights bloom so beautifully and makes for such a pleasing look without introducing any unwanted color casts to the image. Likewise, the build quality of this filter is great and I appreciate the little grooves on the sides of the filter that allow me to grip it more easily when putting it on and taking it off. Overall I'm very happy with it and would definitely recommend it.

have a lot of K&F filters - a lot of filters in general - and this one is of good quality and has a solid plastic body. 1/4 is understated, maybe too understated for some things and that's why I've never bought one. For that reason, I could imagine using this more often.

There is always a more expensive and beautiful filter. I like the K&F filters. For the price range they make nice filters and not just offer a filter that is over the top. I like stacking these kinds of filters to get what I want. I'm getting more and more picky about my shots over time and I'm just a beginner.

K&F Concepts does it again! See the video for more information. 1/4 is the perfect filter for that dreamy look. Not too much and not too little. It's spot on. This filter gives your films a clear video look and gives them a nice shine. It also emphasizes and softens the black tones. Great filter... I love it.

Diffuser filters are used to blur light, for example, or to soften it.
The filter does that very well.
In terms of optical quality, I have not noticed any major difference to Neewer filters.
Of course there is room for improvement, but the professional filters are then quickly beyond 200 euros.

I used it on a Tamron 90mm f2.8 and a Nikon D500.
A bit notchy when unscrewing (Neewer can do that better now) but otherwise no reason to complain.
You have to experiment a little with the incidence of light. When the light source is directly in front of you, the effect can be quite extreme, as the soft glow "overshines" much of the immediate area.
With light coming in from the side / indirect light, you get a nice "glow". This can also be used in product photography, for example, to soften highlights a little (eg in cars to soften highlights).
And the filter does that very well.

The price is absolutely fine. If you want to use this effect permanently (Hollywood glow....) you should invest more. For the hobby / amateur photographer, absolutely sufficient (portraits also get that special "something" - try it out)
No "always-on filter" but a very nice effect

I rarely look for a blurry effect in my shots, I prefer to create images with sharp and effective contrasts.

Nevertheless, I like to experiment and recently had the opportunity to try a 1/1 black fog filter, which, however, as I had imagined, achieved an overly accentuated effect that I could only use for very special projects.

When I saw the K&F Concept's 1/4 filter, I decided to try that one too, to see if it could be more versatile with its less pronounced effect and stray less from my style.

I will not go into technical explanations any further. It's a filter that creates a fog effect, reduces highlights and reduces glare, giving a blurred result that helps smooth out skin imperfections in portraits.

Personally, I don't like this blur effect in portraits because I think it looks "fake". To reduce imperfections, I prefer to use light modifiers (softboxes, umbrellas, diffusers, etc.) or use advanced techniques in post-production.

In any case, as you can imagine, since it's a 1/1 filter, the effect is less pronounced than a 1/1 filter. If that's what you want, that's fine.

Personally, I find this type of filter more interesting for other purposes, for example to create halos around the lights or to give a certain dreamy and vintage effect to videos in which I think they do their best.

From a construction point of view, this filter isn't bad: it has optical glass with a multi-layer nanometer coating on both sides that controls glare and protects against oils and scratches.

The aluminum alloy structure makes it light and threading is quite well done.

Obviously the overall quality doesn't match that of professional filters, but neither does the price!

I therefore consider it a good buy for amateur photographers and for those who, like me, do not often look for this type of effect and use it from time to time. In these cases, it would not make sense to invest in products from more expensive brands!

My overall rating is 4 well deserved stars!
