58mm Black Mist 1/4 Special Effects Filter Cinebloom Black Diffusion Effect - Nano-Xcel Series
SKU: KF01.1479
I bought this filter to test it against the Tiffen brand Pro-Mist and it didn't disappoint. There is a video on YouTube comparing these two filters side by side and the K&F is definitely a competitor. The price is fair which I liked, it also came in a nice container. Don't pay too much for the tiffen in my opinion.

For the price that doesn't blow it, it's easy to put on and take off. Ideal for amateur photographers getting more creative.

Very well suited for shots of silky water. Quality glass and threads are essential for any serious photographer.

Overall very happy with the filter. Great quality. I bought the 52mm version. Used 2 of my kit lenses and no problems. Very easy to install and remove from the lens. Easy to clean. Should last a very long time.

If you want to find out more about it, check out "Paul Jonack" on YouTube, where I upload helpful tricks, tips on the subject of videography and photography. Can definitely say that buying the filter was a really good decision the whole picture is very beautiful, skin tones are softened and lights shine in a completely new light. Can recommend the part 100% is definitely worth the money.

Beautiful effects, especially for weddings and couple shoots. With a long focal length, I would take almost 1/8. Price performance is okay. One person found this helpful

This K&F Concept Black Diffusion Filter creates a very, very cool dreamy effect while maintaining image sharpness. I use it with my Fuji X-T100, and I'm very happy with the results. The filter screws on perfectly (no issues with the filter body) and does not create vignetting even when used on my UV filter. The images I take with the filter are nice and clear, but with the dreamy, slightly grainy film effect that haze filters like this are supposed to give. I love that I can get the effect without applying any filters while editing. The filter also gives a softer effect to faces, so it's ideal for portraits. I use the 1/4 filter, so the effect is soft. The greater the number of filters, the greater the effect produced.

I really didn't know what to expect from this filter. I mean I know what it technically should have done but I've been fooled before with poor quality results and not knowing this brand I was prepared to be disappointed but I certainly wasn't . This filter offers a wonderful softening effect that doesn't blur so much, but rather seems to maintain decent focus while creating a slight hint of haze. It's very delicate and a really nice tool to have in a portrait photographer's arsenal. It also has a pleasing effect on candles and sharp light points, creating a softened tint or aura around the light source. It sounds a bit "dreamy," if that helps paint the picture. I I've used this filter with my primary Nikon portrait lens and intend to continue shooting with it to learn more, but so far it's been a pretty exciting find. I will say that while safe enough, I find that this filter does not match my lens threads as precisely as I am used to. Something seems wrong but they're not binding so I'll leave it pretty much alone. I am very impressed with this filter and think it is reasonably priced. Really recommended. This filter is not the one I used to carry around in my bag on a regular basis, as I assumed it mostly worked as a mix between an ND filter and a soft filter. But, seeing the possibility of using it for a few days, I realized that I was wrong! The 1/4 black diffusion filter (there is also a stronger 1/2 filter) is primarily used for its softening effect on faces, where it can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes. In this role it works, but maybe a little too much for some shots. I shoot outdoor landscapes and architectural photos more than portraits, where the filter reduces glare and reflections. It is also useful for defocusing backgrounds more than the camera itself handles. The effects, at first glance, are subtle, but they are visible in a side-by-side comparison. Most of the time, there is a “glow” effect on the snaps which is very appealing. The quality of the filter is high, and I now use it almost by default on my primary 85mm and 105mm lenses. Nice filter.
