When I first got this to review, I was skeptical about how I'd use it, and a little confused by a device without a big LCD display these days! But after a quick scan of the instructions, it made total sense.

Yes, the translation is a little rough, like many imported electronics these days, but it's so simple to use out of the box, there's not much to worry about.

This is easy to take manual voice memos or lecture notes, without pulling out a smartphone app, setting up to automatically record nature sounds or any other long-running recordings.

You can even set it up to be voice-triggered, in case you need it as a low-cost alternative to a "nanny cam." It's subtle, small, and without any lights on. And is magnetic (see pic of it stuck to my fridge) to mount anywhere you might want it.

The first time I tested it out, I forgot to turn it off, and it got nearly a whole day's worth of clear recordings from my living room. Not bad! Kinda funny to listen to the family watching TV and playing games afterwards.

Overall, this is a great value for the money. I suggest running the time-set app right away to ensure it properly time-stamps recordings, and familiarizing yourself with the settings. And there shouldn't be any issue with bypassing virus scanning even though the instructions said so -- I was a bit concerned, but I scanned it without issue.

I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and I'm really happy I got it.

I use it a couple of different ways.
1- I've used it in a lecture based class to make sure I get all the notes I need.
2- When I'm having trouble memorizing something, I'll record myself and then listen over and over.

The size makes it very portable and discreet. I also love that it's magnetic.
