This thermal is pretty cool. It detects a dog sized animal easily at 400 to 600 yards. Maybe further. It's not the clearest but it is definitely worth what you are spending. This is my second thermal from this company and I like both.

The device is so cool. Finally I could try it in forest, we went for camping next to Yosemite park. It really works and you can see if something living being around. Also I liked the case and camera is quite small and doesn’t take a lot of space and not heavy.

I live out in the woods in Louisiana and we raise chickens here. We are constantly on the lookout for predators that could harm our flock -- especially at night. This device has been a Godsend. I can see all around our backyard if there are potential predators. Works much better than a flashlight. It is so precise that I can actually see mice running around in the trees or dogs across the street. I can already tell it will be instrumental in helping us protect our chickens.
I also plan to use it for hunting purposes and I'm sure it will help immensely. If you're looking for an effective thermal monocular that can help you see in the dark, you should definitely pick this one up.

My first thermal. It works great. I can view animals on my property. My son has been using it to scan for coyote hunting. He loves it. The battery life is excellent. There is a + symbol that shows up to point to the hottest thing out there. It is annoying at times, but if you increase the magnification it goes away. The more you increase the magnification it gets less clear. I would buy it again.
