72mm ND2-ND400 Variable Filter (1-9 Stop), 24 Layers of Nano-coating, K&F Concept Nano-Dazzle Series
SKU: KF01.2361
There are many of these ND filters on the market, both variable and fixed, they differ substantially from each other in terms of construction quality and glass, sometimes leading to bad visual effects. In this case we are talking about a variable filter, so by turning the ring we will vary the filter. The construction is solid and well made, with a ring that slides well and the effect is clearly visible up to ND400, excellent for most uses. The vision is clear even at maximum filter performance, obviously it also depends on the settings of the camera itself. The only flaw I found is that it does not have an end stop, so once it reaches the maximum it then turns again to return to the starting level.

The filter is well made and easy to use. There are no hard stops, but there are markings on the side of the filter. Performance is good for this price range. There is some loss of sharpness at high light reduction settings, but for hobby photographers I don't think it's that bad. This is affordable and is a good entry into variable ND filters.

picked up this K&F Variable ND2-400 Lens filter for several of my lenses @ 82mm. It's a bit of a beefy filter with the fit and finish being excellent. When placing the filter onto any lens I first rotate the filter counter-clockwise until it feels flush with the lens then I twist it clockwise, tightening the ND onto the lens. Moving from each stop just takes a slight twist of the filter which has grooves in the twisting portion to make it easier to change stops. Testing: Going through all the stops on a tripod the color varies very little until you get to 8-9 stops, which can always be corrected in post. The filter doesn't lose much in quality of sharpness at the lower ranges of the ND but as you creep above 5 stops you begin to lose quality. Overall, if you're looking for a good budget ND filter, this one will definitely work and not break the bank, I'd just watch out for using it in extreme circumstances where you need to go above -6 stops.

am not a professional photographer but I like to take a lot of pictures when I travel. This filter provides an easy convenient way to lighten your load if you need to. Rather than carry a filter set, this filter provides several solutions in one. This flawlessly mounted onto the end of my Canon lens. There are no hard click stops but I still found this easy to use. Given that this provides convenience, I do not expect perfection in this filter. I like that I can carry one filter that provides options instead of carrying a set. So far, I found no major issues with this filter, but again, I am rather new at this. It worked well for my pictures but I am sure that over time, I will find a few issues as others have, once I get better at using this in varying situations.

The first thing that struck me is how well this felt on my lens. The edges of the filter are nicely knurled, so it's extremely easy to grip and turn. Also, the filter is nicely dampened. It turns really smoothly, with just the right amount of resistance, and there's zero grittiness to be found. In terms of sharpness, I have no complaints. I haven't pixel-peeped, but a casual look shows that my images are nice and crisp. it's very minor, and easily corrected.
