As with any filter you put over your lens, you're limited to any images that have the soft focus effect. As a digital photographer, I've mostly taken to creating effects on my images in post-production in Photoshop, where you can selectively choose the type and amount of effect for each image. Early in my career I used special soft focus filters designed and manufactured by the film industry, but I no longer have that set and I wanted to see if this filter would mimic that effect. It does a decent job but falls short of the system that had multiple filters of varying soft focus, but I knew that when I bought this filter. It's nice to have this filter when I know that I need it for certain themes, but for the most part I will create my own filter effects in Photoshop for most jobs. Also good value for money.

This filter offers a beautiful effect that is difficult to achieve with software with comparable results. However, the effect targets the entire frame — as opposed to what's possible in post-processing. Physically, the filter is well made and has good threads. It appears to be of good optical quality and the coatings appear even and effective. The distribution seems uniform to me, although I'm by no means a professional photographer. It's not an everyday filter, but it's nice to have when warranted. It seems like a good value to me.

I love the look this filter gives. Not too much glow, and it reduces glare a lot, and enriches the blacks. Great addition to the photographers toolbox.

I like the effect of this filter. Simply provides a soft glow, smoothes the skin a little and makes backlighting look softer. The glass also appears to be of high quality. Nice filter.
