The 10dB boost is perfect for grabbing voices and sounds when the setup requires you to be just a bit too far away from your subjects. Put the mic off-camera on a small boom, whether on a stand or handheld, and it works like a charm for small group interviews, a subject roaming a small room, or when your subject is nervous wearing a lav mic.You can pay 10x the price of this mic and get a "better" mic, but you probably won't hear a difference. And if this gets dropped on concrete, rained on, or takes a bath in a river raft, you can afford to replace it.
