Excellent price-performance, stands up well to competition
This unit appears to use the same sensor as the other 256x192 units that are becoming more common. This one is larger than some, but I think on balance that's a GOOD thing -- it's much easier to handle without getting fingerprints on the lens. It also comes with a real carrying/storage case, unlike some smaller units that just come with a drawstring bag and no lens protection.
Images from this unit are as expected. Like most, it periodically moves a shutter in front of the sensor to recalibrate, and the image freezes during that time. Image quality is good. I was seeing noisy images at first, but then I realized that I'd set the unit to its extended temperature range (to be used for much higher temperatures). Once I set it back to the standard temperature range, images cleaned up nicely.
