K&F Concept 1/4 Black Mist Diffusion 67MM Filter

Super cool filter, well made and good quality. The filter can be screwed on cleanly and sits perfectly on my Tamron's 28 75 and 70 180 2.8. The effect is really cool and in combination with the Aputure Accent B7C, Hollywood says hello.

I think the filter is really cool and you can let your creativity run free. The price is also great and super fair.

This is a diffusion filter for 67 mm filter diameter lenses. The filter is very special in its own way.
If the exposure is correct, you get an interesting picture in many situations. Almost dreamy and foggy. In this way, completely different moods can be captured. Both as a video and as a photo.
However, you have to keep in mind that the image is slightly less sharp as a result. But that just fits the look.
The filter itself is well made and of good quality.
I also think the price is reasonable.

A filter that softens the extreme sharpness of some lenses and gives visible light sources a pleasant glowing effect. It seems a bit the opposite of what one would want (i.e. sharpness), but in reality the end effect is far more cinematic and natural to the eye. Now I use it often in the video and also in the photos. I wasn't aware of the brand and it's not like the original Pro Mist or other top brands in terms of ring construction but it does the job

If you want to add a subtle vintage cinematic touch to your photos, this is your filter.
I love the build quality and strength.
Tested on Sony Alpha 6400 with a 50mm f1.8

I've never heard of the brand before, but was pleasantly surprised that it has similar quality to Neewer filters for the price.
Only the thread doesn't work so well.

What does the filter actually do? He draws the picture softer like with a cloud or fog in front. So in itself sharp but softer.
Especially when light or twilight and fire are involved, I find it very beautiful, because it takes away the concentrated sharpness and it has something cozy.
It's kind of reminiscent of a video film look.

At the same time, with the filter, you also lose sharpness details (clearly understandable when blurring) and also a bit of aperture.

Theoretically, the effect could also be partially reproduced in image editing programs, but if you want to have direct photos without much post-processing, the filter is in good hands.

The K&F Concept brand photo filter, model 1/4 58 centimeters Pro Black Mist, is light and thin and is suitable for those who do not have a big budget and want to achieve cinematographic effects with their digital camera.
The material is metal and durable, but I recommend being careful with glass. With a small piece, it is easy to clean and packaging is included to store in a bag.
When used for portrait photography, it softens the skin and reduces skin defects right in space, reducing excessive post-processing.
It is able to increase contrast and reduce shadows, especially when shooting on sunny days. You can use an open aperture and get a blurred effect with more intense colors. Ideal for those who like to shoot portraits or events and don't prefer the external flash.

The filter fits very well on my Sony A55 camera. It not only draws something softer, but also protects the lens from scratches. Even light effects are not so hard but more dreamy. The quality is very good and there is also a storage option.

let's talk right away about what we find when unpacking:

- Filter in its plastic case

(in the video you will find unboxing, first impressions)

The filter is available in different variants depending on the intensity, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8
The effect is created by a homogeneous layer of microdots on the glass and on the surface we also have an oleophobic treatment to facilitate lens cleaning.

The filter is suitable for both hobby and leisure use. professional, it comes with the classic screw connection, in my case 82mm, and is double threaded so it can overlay another filter and add its effects.
These types of filters are suitable for anyone who wants to achieve a soft, desaturated and pastel effect in daytime photos, or for those who want to take advantage of the effect at night to enhance neon or strong lights by reducing their highlights, but simultaneously creating a haze-like halo around them. Another use is to smooth the skin by reducing wrinkles or imperfections.

I immediately tested this 1/4 filter and I have to say that it is well balanced. The effect is not pronounced but present, in the shots related to portraits, through an effect that I dare define as almost dreamlike, which also softens the skin without losing detail. For night shots, this filter does its best, bringing out the highlights and creating an effect similar to the glow with some haze.

While using it, I realized that static photos can also be taken using a different approach. The first photo was taken with the filter is the camera on the easel and the second without the filter inserted. In doing so I've had the opportunity, in post-processing, to be able to have a clean level and one with an applied effect that I can use at will through the level masks and I have to say that the results are excellent has brought.

The filter reminded me in part of vintage soft focus lenses, lenses I've owned myself, and I can safely say it tends to have a very similar effect. This filter is perfect for those who strive for soft focus, for those who love a fog effect or want to add a different touch to portrait photography.

In summary I can say that this filter is excellent value for money and with good use it gives really excellent results. I haven't encountered any problems or anything like that, especially after more than a week of use. For this reason my rating is 4 stars, my testing was done with a mirrorless APSC body and full frame body. I can safely say that this filter can be compared to products with a higher price.

The filter comes safely and neatly packed and with the 58mm thread it fits perfectly on the Canon lens of my SLR camera.
The photos get a slight blur from the filter, which usually makes them look a bit warmer. If you only need part of a photo or want to enlarge a section, you will have to unscrew the filter beforehand.
All in all, and especially when there is backlight, the 1/4 filter is a small addition that also reliably protects the lens of the lens. I wouldn't consider it a must-have, but for those special moments the filter is definitely worth the money.

The filter can easily be screwed onto the lens of my Nikon Z50. Using the filter requires a bit of practice, but very nice effects can be achieved in b/w / light-shadow photography.
