I want the filter for my canon powershot sx50hs. does that fit or do I have to use an intermediate ring?

Filter threads on the lenses are uniform. So if you have 55mm on the lens, then any filter with this dimension will fit on it. I don't know your camera, so make sure you can use filters. This is not always the case with compact or bridge cameras.
